China’s line-up for FIBA Asia 2013 Revised Because of Injuries

The official line-up of China for the FIBA Asia 2013 was revised because of injuries suffered by some of its players. The reigning FIBA Asia Champion, made changes with their original lists of players.

Out of the original list submitted earlier are guards Han Shuo and Liu Wei along with center Li Muhao who make way for veteran campaigner Wang Zhizhi and Zhu Fangyu along with one of China’s promising playmaker Guo Ailun.

According to reports from Chinese media, Han Shuo has already been sent back to Beijing, from Taiyuan, where China was preparing against New Zealand’s Tall Blacks last Wednesday.

The Chinese squad won last Wednesday against New Zealand Tall Blacks with the final score at 79-67 during the Game One of the two game series. The new and revised squad of China travelled to Luoyong for the second game against the Tall Blacks.

Guard Liu Wei suffered an ankle injury recently and aggravate the thigh strain he had suffered earlier forcing him to be sidelined by coach Panagiotis Giannakis, who changed his mind with his 12-player list.

The revised 12-player squad list is still subject to approval as per the norms set by FIBA Asia Internal Regulations. The Chinese national basketball team is looking for a record of 16th gold medal in this year’s event.
