Former UAAP MVP Bobby Ray Parks lead the NU Bulldogs as they turn back against La Salle Green Archers on Sunday’s game at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum with the final score at 63-56.
Ray Parks scored with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 6 (–foul word(s) removed–)ists, 3 steals and ignited a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter of the match and derailed the Green Archers’ comeback effort during the July 28 match-up.
Although the NU Bulldog made a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and even leading the entire first half of the game, the Archers made a comeback performance during the third quarter and made a successful 11-3 run sealed by a Jeron Teng buzzer-beating layup to come within one point, 43-42, before the final period.
Ray Parks made an impressive performance especially from the long range at the start of the fourth quarter, hitting two triples and a layup to spark a 10-0 run and put NU Bulldogs up by 11, 53-42, with only 6:44 left in the game.
The Green Archers didn’t surrender right away, coming up with an 8-0 run to trim their deficit to three, 59-56, with 16.4 seconds left. The NU responded with Gelo Alolino’s two free throws and Emmanuel Mbe scored a layup at the buzzer to (–foul word(s) removed–)ure the victory for the Bulldogs.
The La Salle Green Archers dropped to a 3-4 slate to fall to a three-team jockeying for the fifth place position.
