Veteran singer and comedian finally decided to leave GMA Network for TV5. Ogie Alcasid has been with GMA-7 or the Kapuso Network for the past 18 years. According to a news report from entertainment site, Pep.Ph.
Ogie reportedly met with GMA executives last June and last week to inform them about his decision of leaving GMA 7. The GMA Network have also posted a statement through their official website regarding the current status of Ogie Alcasid. They released the following statement:
“As Ogie Alcasid moves on to explore new grounds, GMA Network, his home for almost two decades, wishes him all the best. We thank him for being a part of the Network’s success all these years,” GMA Network said.
“His achievements as a singer, songwriter, comedian, host and actor make Ogie the icon that he is now. And the Kapuso Network is proud to have been with him throughout this journey,” the network said.
The 45-year-old Ogie Alcasid is one of the most popular comedians of the Kapuso Channel, especially with his remarkable stint with Bubble Gang. According to Alcasid he was torn between his loyalty to GMA Network and his close ties with his wedding sponsor, Manny Pangilinan, chairman of TV5.
