SONA 2013 Traffic Advisory Re-Routing on Monday July 22

The State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2013 is one of the major event in Philippine history, in relation to this event, a traffic advisory was already set in place by the QCPD Traffic Enforcement Unit.

On Monday, July 22, the Quezon City Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit issued the following traffic advisory to the public:

  • At 12:00 midnight of July 22, 2013, only the two leftmost lanes of Commonwealth Avenue – Northbound will be opened for motorists going to Fairview.
  • At 5:00 a.m. of the same day, the northbound area between Ever Gotesco and the Commission on Audit (COA) building will totally closed to motorists. Upon reaching the U-turn slot in front of Superstar KTV (formerly Metro Disco), motorists will be rerouted to  take the southbound lanes until they reach the U-turn slot at San Simon (Riverside) after COA building. Four southbound lanes will be used for counter flow. Beyond that point, traffic flow to north direction will resume to normal.
  • Motorists coming from Tivoli Royale and Capitol Estate I will be guided by motorcycle cops going to either north or south direction.

For security reasons, the newly-installed National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr. stated that about 5,000 cops will be on full alert and will be posted around Metro Manila to ensure peace and order.

The MMDA on their part will deploy 1,200 personnel to (–foul word(s) removed–)ist the traffic along Commonwealth Avenue and roads leading to the Batasang Pambansa where President Aquino is expected to deliver his fourth SONA on Monday.
