Gilas Pilipinas Defeated Super City Rangers Bounces Back

The Gilas Pilipinas bounces back from their back-to-back previous losses in New Zealand, this time defeating Super City Rangers at St. Kentigern’s Gymnasium with the final score at 95-77.

According to Coach Chot Reyes of the Philippines, his team was buoyed by a sellout crowd in Auckland and he gave thanks to thousands of Pinoys who supported the national team.

The men’s national basketball team of the Philippines bounces back from a back-to-back defeat during their previous games against New Zealand clubs. The Rangers is one of the prominent basketball club in New Zealand but they missed the NBA playoofs. The team was also reinforced by several players from other squads, including notable national team player Dillon Boucher.

The Gilas Pilipinas will be having their final game tomorrow, against the national basketball team of New Zealand, more popularly known as the Tall Blacks, a team which ranked no. 18 worldwide. The Philippines on the other hand ranked no. 45 in worldwide FIBA Rankings.

The Philippines match-up against the New Zealand Tall Blacks will be held in a closed-door encounter, the game is the final tune-up matches of Gilas on their New Zealand training camps. The trip is part of the country’s final buildup for the FIBA Asia Championship which will begin this coming August 1, 2013.
