The National Health Insurance Act of 2013 was already signed into law by the President of the Philippines, which will provide mandatory healthcare for all Filipinos.
The RA 10606 amends the law on PhilHealth to expand coverage to other sectors such as the poorest of the poor, abandoned children, PWD’s, and those who are not regularly employed. The premium contributions under the new law will be subsidize by the National government.
The Law will also make the national health insurance program compulsory in all the provinces, cities and municipalities nationwide. The PhilHealth, the health department, LGU’s and other agencies were mandated by law to ensure access access to quality and cost-effective healthcare services.
The Vice President for Corporate Affairs of PhilHealth, Greg Rulloda, explained through ANC’s “Dateline Philippines” on how Filipinos will benefit from the new law.
