Asi Taulava Named ABL MVP 2013

Former PBA MVP, Asi Taulava of the San Miguel Beermen in the ABL has been named as the Most Valuable Player of the ASEAN Basketball League as announced on Wednesday by the organization.

Asi Taulava’s MVP award is an added bonus to the 40-year-old baskeball star as he guided his team San Miguel Beermen in a back-to-back trip to the ABL Finals. He is the first Filipino to won an MVP award both from the PBA and the ABL.

The announcement was made through ABL chief executive officer Anthony Macri in a statement. He was quoted as saying that, “We have some very talented players in our league, and any one of them would have made an excellent ASEAN MVP – and it is a testament to Asi Taulava that he was selected by the teams for this award.” Macri stated.

Asi Taulava won his first MVP awards during his PBA stint in 2003 playing for the Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals. During his stint in the PBA, Taulava had played with different teams, such as Meralco Bolts and Talk ‘N Text.
