Ana Theresia Hontiveros, more popularly known as Risa Hontiveros is a Filipino activist, journalist and politician who will be running for a Senate seat. She served her second terms as the party-list representative of the Akbayan Citizen’s Action Part to the House of Representative since 2004.
The 46-year-old Risa Hontiveros is a recipient of the KBP Golden Dove Awards for Best Female Newscaster. She also earned a Nobel peace prize nomination for her work as chairwoman of the Government Panel’s Reciprocal Working Committee on Soci0-Economic Reforms in the Peace Talks with the National Democratic Fron from 1998-1999.
Risa Hontiveros is the older sister of prominent broadcast journalist Pia Hontiveros. Some of the most prominent personalities who supported Risa Hontiveros candidacy were basketball star Dondon Hontiveros, actress Sharon Cuneta, prominent UP Professor Winnie Monsod, writer Margie Holmes and megastar Sharon Cuneta.
