The Filipino boxing community suffered another blow as Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire defeated by Guillermo Rigondeaux via Unanimous decision at the Radio City in New York.
The win by Rigondeaux put the Philippine boxing aficionados in awe as they have seen a different Donaire fighting against the more prepared Cuban. Rigo outboxed Donaire with his scientific boxing although he was seen on TV chased by Donaire.
Donaire’s chasing on Rigo put him with an easy target for counter-attack. Rigo landed some clever shots which hurt the Filipino champion.
Nonito Donaire knocked down Rigondeaux at Round 10 of the match but the score he got in that round was not enough to capture the judges scorecard.
Rigondeaux, who improved to 12-0 with 8 KOs, outscored Donaire, 114-113, 115-112, 116-111.
