The Philippines dominated the recently concluded 1st ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards 2013 as they topped among the nation’s list of winners. The international film festival started last March 28 and ended on March 30, 2013.
The governing body of the 1st ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards 2013 showcased 100 wide-screen masterpieces from Southeast Asia, Australia, Inida and USA.
The awarding ceremony was held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. A total of 13 Pinoy Independent films were shown during the three-day festival. During the awarding ceremony, Filipino actors, Rocco Nacino and Jericho Rosales were among the rosters of presenters.
The Philippines entry, Sta. Niña won Best Picture (Drama), while Alessandra de Rossi and Ms. Anita Linda won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively. Child star Bugoy Carino was given recognition as Best Supporting Actor for the movie Alagwa.
