Chadleen Lacdo-o: Kanta Pilipinas First Grand Winner

Chadleen Lacdo-o was declared the first-ever grand winner of TV5’s reality singing competition “Kanta Pilipinas” after she defeated thousands of talented singing aspirants nationwide.

The 18-year-old singer’s life story have been an inspiration especially for those who have been following the lovely young lady who turns into one of the most promising singer in the country.

Chadleen was born with a cleft palate during her childhood and had a quite struggle when she was young. Her condition also made it difficult for her to speak and the situation got worse after an unsuccessful operation after another.

At around four years old Chadleen got a blessings when the world renowned international charity organization “Operation Smile” had a medical mission in Cebu and she was one of the beneficiary in a successful free operation.

The life story of Chadleen was also featured in different television program such as Rated K, Probe and Storyline after her successful finals appearance in ABS-CBN’s singing contest for kids, “Little Big Star.”

Chadleen was also a prominent cast member of the Kapamilya musical dram series titled “Idol” when she was 16-years-old as she sang and act alongside Sam Milby, Coco Martin, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Sarah Geronimo.

During the Top 24 of Kanta Pilipinas, she performed a soulful rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” which earned her a slot in the Top 12 and eventually made it to the Top 8. Chadleen goes up against the more popular and favorite tandem of Nicole and Carlo but she emerged victorious during the final round.

Chadleen Lacdo-o’s story as the first grand champion of Kanta Pilipinas and the face of “Operation Smile” in the Philippines is truly an inspiration for all of us Filipinos. She brought home the title, the P1 Million grand prize and a recording contract.
