Ateneo vs. Adamson UAAP Women’s Volleyball Semi-Finals

The top four teams in the UAAP Season 75 women’s volleyball tournament were already determined, the Ateneo Lady Eagles going up against the Adamson Lady Falcons.

The game will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Both teams have battled through 10 highly contested sets this year’s edition of the game, with Ateneo taking their first round match and Adamson getting their revenge in the second round.

Alyssa Valdez of Ateneo scored with an impressive 30 points to lead the Lady Eagles to a 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, and 15-11 victory during the first round, the game lasted for over two hours.

The second round was dominated by the Adamson Lady Falcons with the performance of veterans Shiela Pineda, Luisa Zapanta and Pau Soriano who lead Adamson to a 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 16-25 and 15-10 victory. Although Valdez scored with 35 points for the Lady Eagles but they really missed the service of Fille Cainglet, currently out with an ankle injury.

The Adamson Lady Falcons made their way back to the final four in Season 75, after they were able to defeat traditional volleyball powerhouses UST and FEU.

Ateneo, meanwhile, gained the second-seed and a twice-to-beat advantage for the second consecutive season after winning four of their last five matches. Both the Ateneo and Adamson have never won a volleyball title.

The final four were composed of Ateneo vs. Adamson and NU vs. La Salle. The top two teams will advance to the Finals of the UAAP Season 75. The Finals will be betwen the Ateneo vs. DLSU.
