A Filipina nurse identified as Menchu Sanchez was invited by the President of the United States on his upcoming State of the Union address to be delivered this coming joint session of Congress on Tuesday (Wednesday Morning, Manila Time).
Menchu Sanchez is a nurse at the New York University’s Langone Medical Center, she will sit at the balcony as one of the special guests of First lady Michelle Obama.
The Filipina nurse was one of most recognized heroes of the Hurricane Sandy, a disaster that devastated large portions of New York and New Jersey last year.
The lone Filipino special guest of Michelle Obama was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in the 1980’s. She worked for more than 25 years, and has been at NYU since 2010.
