Philvolcs Issued Tsunami Alert After 8.0 Solomon Is. Earthquake

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLS) released a Tsunami Alert in the Philippines after a 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Solomon Islands in the Pacific.

The Solomon Island earthquake struck at around 9:12 AM (PST), the agency relayed the Tsunami Alert to different branches of government especially in the eastern seaboard of the Philippines.

According to PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum, the Tsunami Alert Level are raised in the following Provinces:

  • Batanes Group of Islands
  • Cagayan
  •  Ilocos Norte
  • Isabela
  • Quezon
  • Aurora
  • Camarines Norte & CamSur
  • Albay
  • Catanduanes
  • Sorsogon
  • Samar
  • Leyte
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Davao Oriental and Davao del Sur
