Azkals vs. Singapore Preview: AFF Suzuki Cup Semis 2012

The Philippine Azkals will face today the visiting Singapore Lions for the semi-finals of the 2012 Asian Football Federation Suzuki Cup. The game will be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium at around 7:30 PM with 8:00 PM kick-off.

The Philippines will have to take extra careful against the Lions although the team have lost two of it’s starters in the first leg, Hariss Harun will not be available because of fractured shin. Naturalized Chinese midfielder Shi Jiayi will not be available also because of unspecified family emergency.

On the Azkals part, they will still rely with the goalkeeping jobs to Sacapano as Fil-German Ronald Muller will not be available. Jerry Lucena will not be available for the Azkals while Jason de Jong will be back in form for the Azkals.

Singapore mentor and coach Radojko Avramovic was confident with the way his main main and skipper Shahril Ishak have been playing. The 28-year-old Singaporean is currently the top scorer of the tournament with a total of four goals.

The Singaporean can also rely the most experienced player in the tournament, the 42-year-old Aleksandar Duric, who scored in their opening match against Malaysia.

The Philippines needs to keep the Singaporean at bay here in the Philippines, a goal by the Singaporean will put more confident to them. The AFF will put more weight on the away goals.

As of press time the Singapore vs. Philippine tickets were nearly sold out.
