Neil Etheridge Recalled by Fulham Unable to Play for the Azkals

Neil Etheridge was already released by Bristol Rovers to play for the Philippine Azkals in the upcoming 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup but unfortunately he was recalled by his mother club, Fulham FC in the Premier League.

The number 1 goalkeeper of the Philippines, who was instrumental during a historic semi-final finished of the Azkals in the prestigious AFF Suzuki Cup confirmed through his Twitter account that he cannot participate for he was recalled to be No. 2 goalkeeper for Fulham.

Due to the recent changes of Etheridge’s availability, Azkals Team Manager is doubling efforts to gain the release of Roland Muller from German second-division club Duisburg. The Suzuki Cup doesn’t fall on an international FIFA date so football clubs are not inclined to release their players.

Without Etheridge and Muller, the Bago City-born goalkeeper, Eduard Sacapano will surely handle the goalkeeping tasks for the Philippines.
