The WBC-122-pound title-holder, Abner Mares remained unbeaten after he successfully defeated Anselmo Moreno in a unanimous decision at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The world champion Mares (25-0-1, 13 KO’s) is one of the most successful boxer in the 122-lbs category beating the reigning WBA bantamweight title holder, Anselmo Moreno (33-2-1, 12 KO’s) in one of the grueling battle in the ring.
After the win by Abner Mares, he called on the attention of the reigning RING/IBF/WBO 122-pound champion Nonito Donaire for a showdown. Both boxers were handled by different promoters, Donaire was in the camp of Top Rank while Mares is in the camp of the Golden Boy Promotions.
According to Golden Boy President, Oscar De La Hoya, he will try to walk to Las Vegas and knock on Top Rank CEO Bob Arum’s door to get the fight made.
