Man Eaten by a Crocodile in Mindanao

A news report from AFP stated that a body of a man half-eaten by saltwater crocodile has been found at a Philippine breeding farm in a town of Santo Tomas in the island of Mindanao.

The victim was identified as Sorbelo Sajona, a 57-year-old man who entered the privately owned-farm unnoticed.

According to Police Officer Lowell Neniza, they have no idea as of this moment how the victim was able to enter the farm wherein a pond was used by the crocodiles.

The farm which was run by J.K. Mercado and Sons Agricultural Enterprises, according to authorities the company breed crocodiles that can grow up to 4.3 meters (14 feet) long. The farm’s administrative officer Lerio Gaceta stated that they will issue a formal statement on the discovery of the body but refused to elaborate the issue.

Police authorities however, stated that they don’t find any evidence of a foul play. The last time that the victim Sorbelo Sajona was seen drunk the previous day at the local cemetery. He lived in a village about five kilometers away from the crocodile farm.

The crocodile farm contains at least 2,800 Crocodylus porosus, more commonly known as saltwater crocodile, the farm exports crocodile skins and sells the meat to some local restaurants offering exotic cuisine.
