One of the Philippines multi-awarded movie titled Himala featuring Nora Aunor will be showing this coming December 5, 2012 for the 30th anniversary of the movie.
The movie Himala was also restored in HD format, it will shown on selected cinemas nationwide starting December 5. The movie was a masterpiece of Filipino film director Ishmael Bernal during the 1980’s.
The late Ishmael Bernal was also a Philippine National Artist. The film scrip was also written by multi-awarded screenwriter Ricky Lee. The story was also based on a true incident on a teenage girl in Cabra Island in the province of Occidental Mindor0 during the early 1966 and 1967.
The Film’s director of Photography was Sergio Lobo, a well-recognized name in the movie industry during the early 80’s. The movie was filmed entirely in the province of Ilocos Norte with a budget of ₱ 3 million.
The movie Himala premiered in the 1982 Metro Manila Film Festival, it was chosen as also to be included in the “Competition Section” of the prestigious 1983 Berlin International Film Festival. Since then the movie has been exhibited in a number of international film festivals around the world.
During the November 11, 2008, Himala won the Viewer’s Choice Award for the Best Film of all Time from the Asia-Pacific Region in the 2008 by CNN Asia Pacific Screen Awards beating out nine other outstanding movies.
