Dembert Arcita & Jessie Aligaga Captured Gold in Wushu Sanda World Cup

Two of the Philippines most popular Wushu athletes dominated the recently held Wushu Sanda World Cup held in Wuyishan, China as they captured gold medals in their respective weight categories.

Dembert Arcita, the reigning world champions captured the gold medal in the finals of the tournament. The Ilonggo was able to defeat his Vietnamese rival.

Jessie Aligaga on his part defeated also another Vietnamese finalist in the the event which is exclusive to the medalist of last year’s biennial World Wushu Championships.

The 27-year-old Arcita needed just two rounds in outclashing Hoang Hong Tu in the 52-kg. division. The Filipino have also knocked out Hoang during the 2011 World championship.

Meanwhile the 28-year-old Aligaga made an uphill climb before he defeated Doan Yuan Cuong in the 48-kg. cl(–foul word(s) removed–). He clinched the close first round. In the next two rounds he demonstrated his strength with a punch-kick combinations.

Jessie Aligaga was a former silver and bronze medalist during his previous stint in the World Cup.
