The Philippines may have a long weekend this month of October in accordance with the celebrations of our Muslim brothers who will be celebrating the Eid Al Adha or Feast of Sacrifice observed by Muslims.
The important religious activity by Muslims from around the world will fall either October 25 or 26 depending upon the proclamation to be made by the Office of the Philippine President.
In the Middle East most of the companies will start their holiday from October 25 and will end on October 29, 2012. In the Philippines if Friday will be declared as a Holiday which is already at the 26th of October.
The Muslim Feast of Eid El Adha is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the undying and unconditional love of Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Isaac.
Based upon traditions in the Middle East, the date of is approximately 70 days therefore it will be totalled to 2 months and 9 days after the end of Ramadan or Eid El-Fitr. Take note that the Higira calendar used by the Muslims have only 29 days and 30 days.
Accoring to Proclamation No. 295 Section 2 which stated that “the proclamations declaring national holidaysfor the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eid Al Adha shall hereafter be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. To this end, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President on which day the holiday shall fall.”
The possible date of the National Holidays for the Philippines is either October 25 or 26, we will update this news as soon as the official holiday will be release.
