Lebanon was defeated by Qatar in the other quarterfinal match of the 4th FIBA Asia Cup after the Lebanese was able to secured the top spot in Group A where the Philippines belong but they lost to Qatar with the final score at 79-72.
The best possible and highest finish the Lebanese could achieve in the competition is a fifth place finish after they dominated the tournament’s last edition on 2010 held in Lebanon.
Lebanon have already secured the hosting rights of the next year’s FIBA Asia Championship after the announcement released by FIBA Asia, the organization headed by a Lebanese national FIBA Asia secretary-general Hagop Khajirian.
The Qatar National Team have rebounded and made one of the greatest upset in the competition after they were earlier down in the tournament with a total of 3 losses against only 1 win but secured the last spot in Group B.
Naturalized and former NBA player Trey Johnson caught on fire with a total of 28 points on 13 of 21 from the field for the Qataris while his main opponent Lebanese Star Fadi El-Khatib who was held with only 12 points.
