The Smart Gilas Pilipinas defeated the 2010 FIBA Asia Cup depending champion Lebanon on their second game in the 2012 FIBA Asia Cup. The Philippines came back in the second half of the game after they were down by 3 points at the end of the first half.
The Philipine Team was able to avenged their previous lost not only to China but to the Lebanese team also, the only team that defeated the Philippines in the recently concluded 34th Jones Cup.
Marcus Douthit led the Philippines in scoring with 25 points and grabbing 21 rebounds to led all players in controlling inside the paint. Some of the most crucial shots was also taken by Douthit together with the support of back to back shots from Gary David who put cushion with the Philippines lead.
Fadi El-Khatib led the Lebanese scoring and rebounding department with a total of 24 points and 15 rebounds followed by dominant Lebanese center Thompson with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Philippines will then face Uzbekistan tomorrow, September 16, 2012 for their third outings in the FIBA Asia Cup 2012.
