Philippines 7.9 Magnitude Earthquake Evacuation and Damage Reports

The USGS recorded 7.9 Magnitude earthquake caused the provinces of the two major islands in the Eastern Part of the Philippines to order an immediate evacuation.

According to Samar Gov. Paul Daza that the evacuation is on going in the towns of Northern Samar particularly Lapinig, Gamay, Mapanas, Palapag, Lao-Ang, San Roque and Pambuan.

A Congressman from Samar Rep. Ben Evardone, told reporters via a text message that “Strong earthquake here in Taft, Eastern Samar! And it lasted very long too!” the congressman said through a text message.

Meanwhile Southern Leyte Governor Damian Mercado stated that there is no reports of damage yet resulting from the 7.9 magnitude earthquake.

The Phivolcs have already issued the Earthquake Information 01 and the Tsunami Bulletin no. 01. Phivolcs downgraded the earthquake magnitude into 7.7 with Giuan, Oras, Sulat, Borongan City and Eastern Samar were the areas worst-hit with Intensity VII.
