Vashti Whitfield was the widow of Andy Whitfield, the 2010 star of television series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”
The 38-year-old revealed her heartache after her late husband Andy Whitfield died from cancer at the aged of 39 last September 11, 2011 after an 18-month battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.
The actor left his 7-year-old Jesse and 4-year-old Indigo, the two children got excited when they saw a butterfly flutters past. They call out “Hi Dad!” every time they see one, says Vashti.
Vashti Whitfield was even quoted as saying that “In his final words to them, Andy said he had to go to sleep as his body didn’t work, that he was like a butterfly with broken wings, but he would always be with them, watching over them,” Vashti stated.
The mother of two was so brave in facing all those trials and the lady was dignified for continuing to smile, for keeping her child well and for respecting her husband by telling his story with pride and not publishing photos of him during his days of sickness.
