Also called as the Cheops, the Pyramid of Khufu reported to have been closed by authorities headed by Mustafa Amin.

The unknown group supposed to hold ceremonies considering the significant 11-11-11 date. The rare date was believed to have powers beyond human comprehension urging the said group to hold ceremonies.

This idea was brought up when director Ali al-Asfar’s approval was asked to hold what they call as the “hug the pyramid” as 120 individuals would clasp hands around the pyramid.

But then, the authorities disapproved their request. The disapproval encouraged the people of Egypt to raise their concerns via online to stop the attempt of those groups. According to Ali al-Asfar, such campaign flooded on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter

The rumours were not the root of the closure of the tourist spot. Ali al-Asfar clarified that the pyramids needed to be cleaned and maintained after numerous people had come during the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday a week ago.

Heavy securities on the grounds were deployed on the site. At present, the Pyramids of Giza still magnets the attention of many tourists.
