Filipino Photographers topped the APEC Photo Contest

Another creation beyond imagination and spirit are recognized through a photo contest which was sponsored by the APEC last Thursday and two Filipinos had won the said event.

Filipinos named Reynaldo Mondez and Romeo Doneza fetched the first and second prize with their exceptional and unique entries “Solar Energy Panels” and “World Wide.” Th said two photos stood out among from the 17 APEC-member economies’ 95 photographers.

The “Solar Energy Panels” of Reynaldo Mondez, a retired photographer from the National Housing Authority, which was taken in a rural village in Rizal province flaunts children playing basketball next to a hut and solar energy panel is a symbol of hope for a sustainable future even in the remote parts of the Philippines.

The photo had also won the APEC Popular Choice Award which gathered 4,600 votes and comments via Facebook page.

Mondez was hoping that he convey the importance of making renewable energy more accessible by lowering the cost of energy through the use of his photo.

Hong Kong got the third prize for the entry of Wong Chi Keung’s “No Boundary Network” and two other entries from Filipino photographers Ellen De Leon’s “Winds of Change” and Robert Anton Pimentel’s “Economic Harmony” also made it to the top 10.
