Blether Labs, a Boston Technology start-up which was founded by Kevin Bradshaw had introduced on Tuesday a technology that lets you start private Twitter chats. The company which is also based on Dunfermline, Scotland introduced !blether.
Twitter users were limited to a 140-character only which causes public chats and DM’s on Twitter an annoying experience. Private group chats were not supported although there are other third party companies that were doing so but not as what Blether had achieved.
Blether which means “chat” in Scottish solved the dilemma of public group chat by launching a beta version of its program. The idea of the program is to corral people on Twitter with whom you are having a conversation into a more accommodating space.
Kevin Bradshaw the founder of Blether had became known after he founded the online gaming platform i-Play which was sold on 2006. On the idea of Blether, he stated that there are some companies taking “different approaches to the problem, “ but none have !blether’s ease of use” in reference to the number of companies who were using Twitter API.
For the past few years Twitter had been accused of copying products of its own based upon third party sites that were leveraging on Twitter API. Blether were also aware of those situations and they were willing to cooperate for a possible Twitter acquisition.
In order for a twitter user to start a private group chat, just type “!b” at the beginning of the tweet along with the Twitter handles of the people you want to “blether”. A clickable URL will then appears and you can start the private twitter group chats.
