The Philippine Azkals took ball possessions, controlled the tempo, run the ball, performed superb p(–foul word(s) removed–)ing capabilities and most of all converted goals to the amazement of the Filipino crowds at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila and defeated the visiting Nepal Himalayan Tigers also known as Nepal Gorkhalis with the final score at 4-0.
Scoring fro the the Philipppine Azkals were the Younghusband brothers, Phil had two goals while James added one goals. Completing the four goals scored by the Azkals was Matt Hartmann who had scored from a p(–foul word(s) removed–) coming from striker Phil Younghusband.
More than 3,000 proud Filipino supporters came out and cheered for the Azkals although the game was held during weekdays wherein most people were having their respective jobs but that could stop them from supporting the Philippine Azkals, the reasons why the Philippines is experiencing a football fever.
With the win the Philippines were expected to climb up on ranking having defeated a team which ranks 31 places higher compared to them. The International Football Friendly match was being sanctioned by the international governing body of football, FIFA.
With the inclusion of European-based players the Philippine Azkals is one of the contingent for the the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup that will be held in Nepal. Both teams were preparing for the said tournament thereby giving them the opportunity to play against other national teams.
The win will definitely adds more morale to the team that had been under constant attacked earlier from its detractors after the Philippine Azkals had lost Singapore with the final score at 2-0. Doubts were raised regarding the composition of the team but now that they had proven their worth those fault-finding people were all silenced.
