A bad news for the residents in central Luzon has been given by the civil defense chief on Saturday saying that the flood that is currently devastating most parts of central Luzon would likely to last for about a month.
The past two typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel” has brought a m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive amount of water in the country flooding parts of central Luzon particularly Bulacan and Pampanga who were badly affected by the storm.
Disaster Risk and Management Council is worrying about the possibility that the flood would get worst as rain continues to pour in the coastal areas in northern part of Manila affecting the Waist-deep floods in Bulacan and Pampanga.
According to authorities basing on the current situation of the affected areas, if the rain continues to pour down, it will take at least two more weeks before the water subside.
In record, the death toll has already reached to 95, 34 are still missing and 586,000 residents were still in evacuation area and cannot return to their home due to the flood.
Tropical Storm “Pedring” entered the country in September 27 and after 5 days Tropical storm“Quiel” followed. The two consecutive storms p(–foul word(s) removed–)ing the country have resulted to flash floods and landslides in some areas of the country.
Weather Agency said that the scattered rain being felt in the country was due to a low pressure area spotted near the country.
Emilia Tadeo, head of disaster council said that despite the obstacles and floods in their way, the team are trying to reach out to our country men affected and giving relief goods to ease their burden.
About 14 billion pesos is the estimated cost of the damaged brought by the two storms but Tadeo said that it will still rise as the local officials in other regions are still trying to get a clear picture of the damaged areas.
