After the success of Shamcey Supsup who landed as the 3rd runner-up for the Miss Universe 2011 held last September 12 at Sao Paulo, Brazil, expectations were arising for each Filipina beauties that would be competing for international beauty pageants, and one of the events next in row is the Miss World 2011 to be held November 6 in London.
Another Filipina beauty, in the person of the former Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2nd Big Placer Riza Santos is hopeful to get the first Miss World crown both for the Philippines and for Canada.
Santos is the representative of the Canada for the Miss World 2011, however, considering the fact that Santos is a Fil-Canadian, her future win would be a victory for both countries, a first Miss World crown for Canada and Philippines.
Joining the Miss World 2011 is not the first international beauty pageant that Riza Santos had been joining. Way back 2006, she had already vied for the Miss Earth Title held in the Philippines were she took home the Miss Photogenic Award at the age of 19, still as Canada’s rep.
Santos was raised in Alberta, Canada, and her parents are both from Bataan, Philippines. She is an engineering student who had also tried her show business career in the Philippines wherein she got the chance to land on some movie projects and be able to work with the country’s top TV and movie personalities like Vic Sotto and Dolphy.
Furthermore, during her stay in the Philippine show business, after her the PBB season, she was being seen on ASAP, a Sunday variety show in ABS-CBN.
Based on the report from abs-cbnnews.com, Santos revealed that she had felt the pressure to win the crown for this year’s Miss World, not just a crown for Canada but for the Philippines as well.
As of press time, two Filipinas are expected to join for the Miss World 2011, Riza Santos, the Fil-Canadian Beauty representing Canada and Gwendolyn Ruais who will be representing the Philippines.
With Filipina Beauties making it to the top of international beauty competition, chances are big!
