Depending champion and Asian powerhouse team was caught in embarr(–foul word(s) removed–)ment after they were defeated by the more aggressive Jordanian Basketball Team and say goodbye of representing Asia to the 2012 London Olympics. The first of the quarterfinals for the 2011 FIBA Asia Mens Basketball Championship held right now in Wuhan, China will be the stepping stone for the Asian Team to try to grab the lone spot for Asia for the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.
Jordan the team that was defeated earlier by the Filipinos were still confident they can make it the semi-finals although facing one of the toughest Asian Team but they proved their critics wrong by making the biggest upset of the tournament by defeating Iran with the final score at 88-84 in favor of Jordan.
Rashiem Wright and Daghles were the main man for the offensive attacked by Jordan. The three point shooting had worked well for the Jordanian. NBA veteran Haddadi had played well and made contributions for the Iranian but was not enough to save Iran from defeat.
With the unexpected win by Jordan, powerhouse teams from Asia such as South Korea, China and the Philippines had a positive outlook although not underestimating the Jordanian who made Iran suffered their first defeat of the tournament.
Meanwhile as of this writing Japan and South Korea were currently fighting each other’s spot for the semi-finals and the Philippine Team Smart Gilas Pilipinas were also preparing for their quest of a London Olympic slot and will face Taiwan at around 6:00 PM Philippine Time.
Jordan will be waiting for the winners between the clashes of the Philippines and Taiwan for the semi-finals and a chance to represent Jordan to the 2012 London Olympics.
