And the recent survey conducted by Newsweek – an American Publication, it was revealed that Iceland led the top 20 countries in the world which offerred and considered to be the Best Country for Women.
The countries which made it to the Top 20 list were evaluated and surveyed using the five categories wherein Iceland scored a perfect 100.
The basis as reported via gmanews.tv, included the status of women when it comes to Justice – the way women were treated in their governing law, women’s access to health, women in education, women stands and value in economic progress and their involvement in work force and women’s status and stand as to political power is concerned.
Joining Iceland in the prestigious top 20 list were (in order from rank 2 to 20) were: Sweden,Canada, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Norway, United States of America, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Philippines, Belgium, United Kingdom and Romania.
Furthermore, looking at the top 20 list, it could be noticed that the only Asian country who made it to the Top 20 was the Philippines.
Taken from the data published still on gmanews.tv, the Philippines scored 86.3% out of 100, and the mentioned scored were derived upon the 5 categories previously stated.
Women status in the Philippines as far as Justice was concern was graded 88.4; Health received 57.0; Education of women in the Philippines took 92.2; Women to economics 89.1 and Women to Politics had achieved 85.6.
Philippines is one of the countries in the world which was known for great women involved in the spearheading changes in the society especially in politics like its first female President, Corazon Aquino, the mother of the current President Benigno Aquino.
