Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz: Mayweather won but unfair decision

Ortiz vs Mayweather
Mayweather beat former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz

The match between Floyd Mayweather versus Victor Ortiz has ended in a controversial fight after the referee Joe Cortez pronounced Mayweather’s victory via knockout decision.

Victor Ortiz who is the former holder of WBC welterweight champion believes that the loss of his title was unfair. He claims that it was an erroneous referee decision to declare the knockout due to the reason the referee Cortez was not giving instructions to re-start the fight.

While the referee was still facing the judges to suggest of deducting the score of Mayweather; Mayweather then unleashed his power knockout punch over Ortiz that causes his unfair defeat.

Ortiz said during the interview of ESPN Los Angeles that he dropped his hands because the referee call to stop and he was not yet giving signals to re-start the fight.

Ortiz did not expect that Mayweather deceptively attacks him. Referee Cortez was not in the right position to re-start the fight. He was not facing the boxers when Mayweather attacks Ortiz.

Ortiz’ trainer, Danny Garcia was surprised of the referee decision to pronounce the victory in favor to Mayweather in which referee Cortez did see the actual scenario of the fighters.

Ortiz and Garcia believed that it was an unfair defeat of their team because the final attack of Mayweather was illegal.

The team Ortiz is seeking for a fair decision and they are also asking for rematch.

Meanwhile, Mayweather said, “If he wants rematch, he can get it.”

He also believes that “whoever you put against him cannot beat him.”
