The successful crowning of the Miss Universe 2011 held last September 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil wherein an Angolan beauty in the person of Leila Lopes had took the crown home was then followed by numerous mixed reactions from the audience globally.
Many were happy forMiss Angola while supporters of the other top 4 candidates like for Philippines, China, Ukraine and Brazil had still something to say.
Few hours after the event, with the presence of the technology and internet, an alleged statement coming from one of America’s most influential women, Oprah Winfrey had been spreading in news and blog sites.
The alleged statement talked about Oprah’s statement regarding to the Philippines bet Shamcey Supsup who had landed as the 3rd runner-up in the said pageant. In the alleged statement, it was said that Oprah allegedly said that Shamcey ‘deserved to win’ the crown, if only the basis was on the Q&A portion.
Quoted from the spreading alleged statement, “I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”
This statement had been earning various impact to the netizens and people across the globe, however, recently, coming from the official website of Oprah, her group had denied the statement and it was said that the alleged statement did not came from Oprah as reported in abs-cbnnews.com and that it was of no truth.
Oprah had been known for being a very popular host and effective endorser in the United States. In fact, she was not only known in America but she had also established her name worldwide that even popular talk show hosts vocally admired their admiration for Winfrey.
Lea Salonga ranked Shamcey second
Miss Universe competition was over but the fever continues, and for those who could not still accept the result, perhaps, this one would calm their hearts and minds.
In one of the interviews, one of the judges on the recent Miss Universe 2011 coronation, Filipina multi-awarded singer and actress and Tony-Awardee Lea Salonga revealed that the decision to crown Leila Lopes as the new Miss Universe was a unanimous decision among her co-judges and she, herself said that she had ranked Shamcey as second.
