Russia and the ice hockey world mourns over jet crash

Jet with Hockey players crashedAs result to the death of 43 people including 36 hockey players and officials in a jet crash, Russia and the rest of the ice hockey world were mourning.

The said accident was considered to be the one of worst so far in the history of the hockey sports which led to the loss of the lives of some of the worlds and Russia’s highly recognized players.

Out of the 36 casualties who were on hockey, 11 of them were foreign players.

Yak-42 plane, a private Russian jet which was carrying the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team heeding to Minsk, Belarus for the opening game of the Kontenintal Hockey League when it burst into flames as it crashed in the nearby River Tunoshn .  In hockey, Lokomotiv team is considered to be one of the most successful clubs in KHL.

Yak-42 had a total of 45 people on board, and the crash had left two people as survivors and both were suffering severe burn and injuries.

Authorities had recovered 35 bodies already from the crash site and 12 of them had been already identified.

On board of the said jet were 36 hockey players and officials and 8 crews.

Authorities in Russia were still looking forward in conducting further investigation on the said incident in order to determine the real reason behind the crashed.

From bbc.co.uk, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had already expressed her sympathy and condolences to the families of the air crash victims.

On the tweet he posted in his Twitter, it was quoted:

“Deepest condolences to the loved ones of the Yaroslavl air crash victims, and to all Lokomotiv Yaroslavl fans”

Coming from the reports, it was said that as the plane crashed and landed, flame was seen followed by a loud bang.

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team who were on board of Yak-42 became a three-time Russian champions in Hockey in the years 1997, 2002 and 2003.

To recall, one of the Russian Airline plane crashed in a highway killing 44 people way back June this year.
