In honor of the Teachers’, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III declared September 5 to October 5 as “National’s Teachers Month” which will be celebrated every year. This Proclamation No. 242 was signed on August 24, 2011 by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr.

According to Aquino, since October 5 of every year is World Teacher’s Day extending the occasion will be used to celebrate the role and guidance of a teacher in every person and families. “The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated October 5 of every year as World Teachers’ Day, which is a day to celebrate the central role that teachers play in guiding the children, youth and adults through the life-long learning process,” Aquino said in the proclamation.

“National Prayer for teachers” was also recommended by the Teachers’ Month Campaign (TMC) Steering Committee to Pres. Aquino. He supports any activities and programs to further celebrate the occasion with the help of government agencies, major organization and other public sectors. National Teachers Month aims “to revitalize the image of teaching as a vocation by increasing public awareness on the value of teachers in Philippine society and national development” said by Pres. Aquino.
