Colombian Salsa artist Joe Arroyo dies at 55

There had been many celebrities coming from the different countries who had p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed away recently which occupied the headlines. Now, after the death of 27 year old Amy Winehouse in the U.S, a 55 year old Colombian salsa performer had followed.

Colombian music flourished with his contribution especially for Salsa, however, Joe Arroyo had finally rest peacefully at the age of 55.

Arroyo is one of Colombia’s highly respected performer and composer, in fact he had written more than 100 songs.

He started his singing career at the age of eight (8) wherein he performed in Cartagena, one of the cities in Caribbean. From then on, he had established and created his own name in the music scene. 1970 was the year that he really climbed to the momentum of his career as part of Fruko Y Sus Tesos band.

He died after a month of being confined in the hospital due to the health problems he had been suffering in his heart, lung and kidney.

Among the hits that he popularized was “La Rebellion”.

Furthermore, he had also established his own band named as “La Verdad (The Truth).”

Alvaro Jose Arroyo Gonzales (Joe Arroyo) in real life had lived a very colourful life. He had experienced and done so many things in his life, both good and not-so-good. He even encountered drug related problems. But his involvement to such things had enriched his character and personality playing a vital role in the growth and progress to the kind of music he was in.

Due to his great contribution to the field of music in Colombia, Latin Grammy will give recognition to his contribution during the upcoming celebration. He will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

He may be gone but his music will stay.
