Same-gender marriage in New York City

Connie Kopelov, 84 and Phyllis Siegal, 76, are now officially married last Sunday, July 24, in a chapel at the city clerk’s office in New York City. They were the first couple in New York City that was orderly married by a city official as to their recent law granting same-gender marriage Sunday.

Siegal finds the marriage so amazing. She excitingly expressed her feeling of happiness to the media and to everyone who were their after the ceremony.

The city clerk Michael McSweeney mentioned upon the ceremony that Siegal and Kopelov are two absolute and particular people who were united together because they can sense that their lives will be much better if they will be together and they believe that the power of their marriage is great.

Everyone in the city clerk office was so gratified that they were there to witness that meaningful ceremony.

The wording on the online utilization was converted to “Spouse A and Spouse B” from “Groom and Bride.” And that made the New York City clerk’s office overflowed with more than 2,600 appeals for marriage licenses. According to a press statement which the city discharged earlier this week, the office said that they could only grasp less than a third of those appeals on Sunday may it be gay or straight.

It was set aside that there are only 764 slots for those who wants to accomplish marriage licenses or to be married on Sunday at the city clerk’s office.

Before the ceremony began last Sunday, there were a lot of couples who incorporated and lined up outside the clerk’s office of New York City. A few men wore suits or tuxedos while some women wore wedding gowns.
