In the 20th century, Lucian Freud was one of the most well-known painters of Britain’s history of painting.  On July 20, 2011, in his hometown in London, he died from undetermined illness at the age of 88.

Freud was born in 1922 in Berlin, but in 1923 he moved to Britain together with his Jewish family when he was 10-year-old. He was a grand-son of the most distinguished psycho-analyst Sigmund Freud.

Freud became a British citizen in 1939 and turned out to be famous for his masterpiece of nude paintings portraying of a heavyweight woman lying down on a sofa. The painting was sold for $33.6m or equivalent to £20.6m in 2008, which give to him a world record for a living artist.

According to several people that knew Freud of his painting skills, they’ve described Freud beyond incomparable in all times when it comes to portraying his workmanship.

Freud’s most impressive works were highly recognized by Britain for great achievement that gave honor to the country.

In his love life, he was married twice, first to Kitty the daughter of a prominent sculptor Jacob Epstein and his second wife was Ava, the Marquess of Dufferin’s daughter.
