Two Arroyo’s top the most number of absences in Congress

mikey arroyoIt’s not just in the school were attendance is a must but also in the congress and recently, for the lower house session running from July 2010 to June 2011, the list of the congressmen’s name who accumulated series of absences out of the 70 sessions were published.

If the previous year, Negros Occidental representative Julio Ledesma had top the list, this year he descended to the number 4 post and two names made it to the top, the Arroyo’s.

Former presidential son and currently Party list representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo topped the said list which was issued by the Office of the Representatives Secretary General to ABS-CBN. While Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo landed at the 3rd place. Furthermore, boxing champ turned representative of Saranggani Manny Pacquiao is stepping at the  4th ranked. He is sharing the slot with Ledesma.

Accumulated absences were as follows based on the report published at the abs-cbnnews.com, for the four mentioned names, Mikey Arroyo as he led the list missed 32 out of the 70 sessions taking in the lower house, Ignacio Arroyo set a tally of 27 absences while both Pacquiao and Ledesma had 26.

Concerned names who had made it to the top four had issued statement why they had gained this number of absences. Taken from abs-cbnnews report, Mikey said that he was absent in the whole month of May due to his meetings overseas with his constituents and he had spend some time with his family in the U.S., Iggy Arroyo on the other hand said that his absences in the sessions were the result of his treatments and check-ups. He mentioned that he’d been to London to undergo check-up and was advice for a total hip treatment. He had been suffering pain in his hipbones.

Pacquio through his staff said that most of the time, if Pacquiao could not make it to sessions, then he is with his constituents in Saranggani. Ledesma, with the tally that he had been absent for 27 sessions, his staff stressed that he had only recorded 18 absences and his office presented a certificate to prove it which comes from the office of the secretary general.
