India’s financial capital Mumbai was under attacked yesterday causing panicked among residents. The bombing occurred during the rush hours at around 6:54 P.M. (India Time). The first target were located at Jhaveri Bazaar jewelry market. After a minute another bomb blasts at the Opera House. The third bomb exploded at Dadar at around 7:05 P.M.
According to Indian authorities there were no immediate groups had claimed responsibility for the said terrorist attacked. There were conflicting reports of the number of casualties, according to (–foul word(s) removed–)ociated Press reports yesterday the total number of casualties were recorded at 21 dead and 141 wounded. The coordinated bombings came after the peace talks between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile CNN wire staff reported the number of casualties at 18 wounded and 131 casualties. They had the same sources, the Indian authorities but the authorities refused to gave further details about the discrepancy. The attacked on Mumbai was the worst incidents since the 2008 Mumbai siege.
The three areas that have been targeted were all busy commercial districts in Mumbai. The improvised bombs were hidden in an umbrella at Jhaveri Bazaar jewelry. The other bomb was also hidden in a car at the business district of Dadar. Ammonium Nitrate were used in the improvised bombs.
The terrorists attacked in Mumbai reminds the people not only the Indians but all those victims that suffered during the 2008 terrorist siege in Mumbai. The intelligence community in India were investigating with the lapses on their part. They could have prevented the incidents if the intelligence community were coordinating with each other.
International leaders were condemning the attacks in Mumbai. US President Barrack Obama was quoted as saying “The American people will stand with the Indian people in times of trial, and we will offer support to India’s efforts to bring the perpetrators of these terrible crimes to justice,” the President said in a statement. “I have no doubt that India will overcome these deplorable terrorist attacks.” said US President Barrack Obama.
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was also quoted as “standing with India is more important than ever” said Clinton. She said that she will pursue her travel to India for the days to come.
Meanwhile Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was saddened with the attacked but keeps the spirit of his people to stay composed and not panicked. He was quoted as saying “to remain calm and show a united face.” said the Prime Minister.
