A 6.2 magnitude earthquake had hit the area of Western Visayas on Tuesday at exactly 4:47 a.m. based on the reports released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology also known as the Phivolcs.

There were no reports issued regarding any damages or injuries caused by the recent tectonic movements. However, some after effects were felt after the tremor.

Specifically, the earthquake had strike the areas in the Western Visayas namely Iloilo, the island of Negros, Antique and Aklan.

Further reports said that the quake’s epicenter sited in the city of Dumaguete. The said earthquake was estimated for a distance of 66 km from its epicenter.

On the same day, the Philippine President Benigno Aquino III was set to visit the capital cities of Capiz and Aklan. It was observed that the shaking happened six hours before the President’s scheduled arrival.

The main purpose of Aquino’s visit to the said province is for the distribution of cash subsidies among its residents specifically to the indigents and the senior citizens. A feeding program will also be held for the young ones in the said place.

The same benefits will then be given as Aquino is said to proceed in Roxas City. This will then be the first visit of the Benigno Aquino III since he was elected as the President of the Philippines. He is known to arrive at around 1 pm.
