Cruise Ship Sank in Russia: 2 dead

Cruise ship-Bulgaria sank in Russian's Volga RiverA Russian cruise ship sinks in Russia’s Volga River on Sunday. The cruise ship called Bulgaria was carrying almost 200 people including the crew. Media and several sources reported that the ship went down around 800 kilometers east of Moscow near the village of Syukeevo. The ship was said to be about 55 years old but it was recently undergo with the process of maintenance and modernized it including comfortable cabins.

Dozens of people are still missing but 2 women were already confirmed dead. One of the survivors’s said that the ship sank so quickly that a lot of p(–foul word(s) removed–)enger’s including a lot of children didn’t manage to escape. Survivor also said that the crews of the ship haven’t got the chance to pull out the lifeboats. While according to an unnamed survivor that a few moments before the tragedy happened, about 30 kids were gathered at the playroom on the second deck. These kids according to her were maybe died.

The first vessel arrived to rescue survivors was a riverboat, the Arabella. There were also two ships and two helicopters according to the Russian officials that responded to the incident of about 450 miles east of Moscow. As of to date, there almost 80 person’s were reported rescued. But the fate of more or less 100 persons was still unknown. The Russian officials’ still not losing hope that there were still a lot of people’s alive and they were trying their best to rescue each one of them.

Emergencies Ministry’s spokeswoman said that there is a rescue operation being worked out at the scene of the accident involving 189 people and 28 units of special equipments. Salvage divers of the Republic will work at night at the Volga River to save the people that are still missing from the sunken ship.

The police started in a criminal investigation against the management of the ship regarding with the allegations of safety violations aboard the vessel.

One of the tourist attractions in Russia was the cruise ship adventure. But some adventures often turn to tragedy. And now the double-deck Bulgaria that was built in 1955 was now lying underwater.
