The Philippine Volcanoes became controversial after their billboard at EDSA had been ordered removed by the City government of Mandaluyong after complaint from different groups especially from Mayor Gatchalian of Valenzuela City.
Mandaluyong was considered as one of the most child-friendly city in Metro Manila and the billboard of Philippine Volcanoes had downgrade the reputation of the City of Mandaluyong. There had been various billboards spreading across Mandaluyong but the Bench Billboard of Philippine Volcanoes was offensive enough according to complainants.
Before the removal of the controversial billboard the Philippine Volcanoes have not been so popular as what the Philippine Azkals had achieved for the past few months. The Philipppine Volcanoes had been in the limelight internationally representing the Philippines in different international competitions.
