After grabbing the victory over the Indonesian Brave Reds, the Azkals football team is set to return to Negros Occidental to utilize the Panaad Sports Stadium for a series of football events.

Based on the statement given by the Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr, the province will be coordinating with the Philippine Football Federation so as to host the upcoming international football games. The succeeding football tournaments will begin from August up to December 2011.

In this cause, the government is trying to fix and provide all the needed facilities to be able to host the events. In fact, lightings will be added to better illuminate Bacolod City’s Panaad Park and Sports Stadium. This action will be taken so as to give a much nicer setting than that of the Rizal Stadium as stated by Marañon.

Governor Marañon even added that there will be 21 football teams to compete. There will be teams that will come all the way from San Carlos City and Hinoba-an as well.

The Palarong Pambansa is expected to happen in the next two years and that will be in 2013. Negros Occidental is preparing well for that big sports event.

It was reported that the Department of Education had already distributed the hosting tasks for Luzon provinces likewise to the areas in Negros. Meanwhile, the province of Negros Occidental will have to bid once again to come up into a decision whether it will now be the turn of the Visayas to host the upcoming national sports competitions.

More sports facilities are currently being provided by the City of Bacolod in preparation for such events.

Furthermore, Marañon stated that through the efforts and cooperation of Philippine National Games and Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee, the province of Negros Occidental will have a big reason to provide a good quality of hosting for the forthcoming tournaments.

It is expected that in the year 2013, the on-going renovation of Bacolod’s Paglaum Sports Complex will soon be finished. The renovation fully concentrates on the oval and the football areas. This only shows that such early action only shows that there is lots of time remaining so Negros could give a quality service as a host.
