Facebook launches Skype Video Chat Feature (Demo Included)

Facebook and Skype partnership
Facebook partners with Skype.

Facebook’s integration with Skype was announced on Wednesday as a new way to stay connected with friends. The social networking giant added a video chatting feature so Facebook users better enjoy exchanging conversations one with another.

In November of last year, the messages team of Facebook was able to combine the user’s chat, emails and text messages into one. And now, the Facebook officially tied up with Skype to level-up the user’s way of communication.

This idea apparently answers the approach of the Google+ when they recently introduced video calls into their site.

Actually, Facebook already made it to a point to use tools for sharing instant messages with the aid of Skype.  So this defines that the idea of partnering with Skype is not a new move done by the Facebook Company.

On the other hand, Skype is currently subjected to be sold to one of the biggest Facebook shareholders known as the Microsoft.

Mark Zuckerberg is the founder of Facebook. When he officially launched Facebook’s new video chatting feature, he also declared that Facebook has already 750 million members at present. Knowing this made him say that his social networking site is now enjoying the fruits of its success even without keeping track of the number of inactive users.

A strong indication of how people are closely attached to the site is through the amount of uploading and downloading photos and video files circulating within the Facebook site. Sharing web links is also a significant thing to consider.

The scope of the video chat service of Facebook will only cover the direct connection between the two users. This means that only two users are able to do the video chat face to face. Meanwhile, the Google+ lets their users connect do video calls in groups calling it to be the “Hangouts” process.

This favourable feature was designed along with the partnership of Facebook and Skype. This is indeed a positive approach accepted by many industry analysts.

Here’s a simple demo for the new Facebook video chat feature:
