WBC might strip Donaire’s championship title

nonito donaireRing Magazine had put him on the third spot of the world best pound-per-pound boxer making the history for two great Filipino boxers to occupy a slot in the top five with pound-per-pound king Manny Pacquiao occupying the number one spot.

Today, the Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire Jr. is back in the news after his amazing TKO at the second round of their face off with Fernando Montiel for the WBC Banttamwieght belt and the controversy involving his family which was already settled.

The latest buzz about this popular boxer is that the WBC or the World Boxing Council might strip him out of the belt due to his failure of having a fight to defend the belt in the previous four months.

He had defeated Montiel way back February 18 this year. From the report published by the abs-cbn news, as taken from WBCBoxing.com, it was stated that 4 months and 13 days have p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed since Donaire won the title against Montiel.

The WBC further said that it was part of the rules and regulations of the council that all champions are obliged to have a match as a title defence in every 4 months. And if 6 months will p(–foul word(s) removed–) that a champion holding the title failed to fight, it will be automatically declared that the title is then vacant.

For now, WBC had already informed Donaire about the thing for him to comply the obligations that is (–foul word(s) removed–)ociated to his championship.

As of now, Donaire do not have response to WBC.

Currently, The Filipino Flash is fixing some problems on his contract involving that of Top Rank and Golden Boy. This two boxing promotion companies are handling the world’s top and best boxers in various division.  Bob Arum is the founder for Top Rank while Golden Boy is with Oscar De La Hoya.

Donaire is a 28 year old boxer with a record of 26 – 1, wherein 18 of these victories came from “knock-out.”
