Azkals vs. Brave Reds: Second Leg to kick off tomorrow in the Philippines

Philippine Azkals as reported yesterday finally returned home after the leg 1 of the home-and-away series between Sri Lanka’s Brave Reds happening last July 29.

The said match was still part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier. Result of the previous game gives both team 1-1 score.

Sports analyst says that during that match, Philippine Azkals physical capacity and way of handling the game was being tested. To recall, earlier in the first half, Brave Reds first set a goal. There was a tough defensive and offensive counter reaction between the two teams. And before the second half finally came to end, Philippine Azkals through the effort and good game connection of Chieffy Caligdong and Nate Burkey was able to set its own goal paving way for them to tie with Brave Reds.

The game tomorrow, July 3, Sunday, is expected to be something hot and tough especially that what is at stake for the match is the opportunity to play for the next round and be able to compete against the team from Kuwait.

Today, team Azkals had their warm-up game at the Rizal  Memorial Track Football Stadium in Manila.

Yesterday, when the team arrived fresh from Sri Lanka, Phil Younghusband underwent check-up due to the injury he had encountered in the match held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Results show that the injury is not that bad and that Phil will be able to play for tomorrow’s big day.

Filipino fans will surely be amazed by the 2nd leg tomorrow.

Azkals know that the game against Sri Lanka’s Brave Reds will never be easy knowing that like them, this group of football enthusiast is also crunching to make it to the next round.

To recall, it was 15 years ago when Sri Lanka and Philippines faced each other in the playing field for football and unfortunately, Sri Lanka defeated the Philippines.

This time, Philippine Azkals is hoping to make a difference.
