After the defeat of the Miami Heat against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA finals, president of the Heat, Pat riley announces to the media that they will not replace Erik Spoelstra as coach of the Heat.

Contrary to the rumors of reinstating Erik Spoelstra as head coach of the team due to their loss last season, owner of the Heat Micky Arison and president Riley cleared out that this is just the 3rd year of Spoelstra and he deserves another chance.

Speculations started to spread that Pat Riley, former coach of the Heat will be back at the next season replacing coach Erik Spoelstra but this news was denied by Riley and said that he has no plans of getting back to the bench and added that Coach Erik is still young and he can do more for the Heat.

The former coach who is already 66 years old and has been through a lot in his coaching career also admitted that it is normal for a new coach to experience hard times in his first two to three years of handling a team thus he understand the situation of Erik.

Riley also expressed his support to the young coach and hoping that someday Coach Erik Spoelstra will grow and learn from his experiences like what he did during his time.

Asked about whether they will extend to the contract of Coach Erik, Riley said that as of now there are no plans and conversation about it.

Erik Spoelstra is the first ever Filipino-American Coach who got into NBA and led his team to the finals. Officials of the heat are still positive that the team will still get into the playoffs next season and be one of the best contenders in the championship.
